African Partners Seminar, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, April 2009
African Partners Seminar was hosted by Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development, ECDD. The leading themes of the seminar were special problems met when working with grassroot groups. The items of reporting and financial management were also discussed within participants. There were two representatives from National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda, NUDIPU, Information Centre on Disability, ICD, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, SHIVYAWATA Mwanza Region, Tanzania, Voice of Disabled People in Ghana, VOICE (ex VOLPHIG) Ghana, Handicap International Mosambik and ECDD with new young assistant facilitators. Abilis African department and also the Chairman of Abilis Foundation Mr. Kalle Könkkölä participated.
Central Asian New Partners Seminar, Almaty, Kazakhstan, May 2009
Abilis Foundation has had Russian speaking Central Asian department from the very beginning of her work and AGOI from Kazakhstan was one of the first partner organizations of Abilis. A lot of new applications were coming also from the neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. OO Souz invalidov Issykkulskoi oblasti, RAVENSTVO, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Disabled People's Organization of Tajikistan, NOIT, Dushanbe were invited to send two participants to a training and experience sharing seminar in Almaty in May 2009. Seminar was hosted by AGOI.
Asian Partners Seminar, Bangalore, India, November 2009
The Abilis Foundation Asian Partners Seminar on Mainstreaming Human Rights Based Approach, HRBA to Disability in Development was held in November 2009, at Mobility India Rehabilitation Research & Training Centre campus in Bangalore, India. Cambodian Disabled People´s Organization, CDPO, Phnom Penh, National Union of Disabled People of Tajikistan, NOIT, Dushanbe, Handicap International – Bangladesh, Dhaka and of course Mobility India representatives gathered to share their experiences and to learn from each other. Mr Jukka Kumpuvuori from Abilis Board facilitated HRBA training. The participants of the seminar made an excursion to both urban and rural areas where ongoing projects were implemented.

Seminar Participants always make an excursion to the ongoing projects of the area. Ethiopian National Association on Intellectual Disabilities, ENAID, has got a weaving mill equipped by the funds from Abilis.
