2009 Albania
Abilis Foundation has some projects funded in underdeveloped areas of Balkan in Europe. In the beginning of the year 2009 Project Coordinator Andrea Fichtmüller visited Albania and met National Association for People with Mental Handicap, Albania Tirana Branch youngsters.

2009 Ethiopia
African Partners Seminar, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, April 2009. After the seminar Abilis African coordinators made some extra project visits in Ethiopia and also nearby Kenya was visited at the same overseas trip.
Project Coordinators Jaana Linna and Tuula Heima-Tirkkonen visited Meketa Disabled Handicraft and Industry Cooperative MEDHAC project Tyre Repair and Car Wash Shop and Karamara Cattle Fattening Cooperative of Persons with Disabilities Cow -project and some others.


2009 Kenya
Project Coordinator Andrea Fichtmüller continued from Ethiopia to Kenya. She visited some
ongoing projects and met some new applicants.
Central Kenya Region Deaf Development Group, their project was Income Generating Project for Deaf Men and Women.


Lari Division Physically Disabled Self Help Group, was having planning meetings for Disabled Environmental Conservation and Livelihood Sustainability Project.


Kamburu Disabled Persons Self Help Group had got already their Improved Livelyhood Options for Disabled Persons in Kamburu - project plant nursery garden flourishing.


2009 Kazakstan
Abilis delegation Leena Hahle, Marina Kitarigorodski and Heikki Korhonen made some project visits after the Central Asia Partnership Seminar in Kazakstan 2009 in May. Obshestvennoe obiedinenie Invalidov KUAT, organisation working in the city of Kaskelen was visited to see how they had their Computer Training implemented.


2009 Uganda
Abilis delegation Mrs. Tuula Heima-Tirkkonen and Mr. Slade Mwiinde Syakango made a project monitoring field visit trip to Uganda in October 2009. Delegation traveled widely in North Uganda with Fascilitator Rose and met groups of disabled people who were getting back from ID-camps to their home yards. Means for starting food production were most important items they had got by the funds given from Abilis Foundation. Abilis Vice President Ari Suutarla joint the delegation for attending the Founding General Assembly of African Federation of the Deafblind and World Assembly of Deaf Blind Union at Speke Resort Munyonyo Conference center.


Abilis Foundation representatives attended at World Assembly of Deaf Blind Union at Speke Resort Mynyonyo. Abilis had an information desk at conference hall.


2009 Bangladesh
Executive Director Mrs Marjo Heinonen and Project Coordinator Marina Kitaigorodski visited Bangladesh in October 2009. They negotiated with Handicap International HI Bangladesh and visited some ongoing projects.
Tangail Disabled Peoples Organisation to Development, project Development for self-dependence & empowerment of the Disabled was in the beginning. The visitors are accessibly entering Tangail DPOD offices.

National Fellowship for the Advancement of Visually Handicapped, NFAVH. There were a lot of PWDs waiting at the office.

2009 Tanzania
Abilis Project Coordinator Andrea Fichtmüller took a short visit to Dar es Salaam in November 2009. She had negotiations with Information Centre for Disability, ICD, Abilis Partner organisation. Some field visits were also done.
2009 India
After the Human Rights based Partnership Seminar for Asian Partner Organisation in Bangalore Project Coordinators Tuula Heima-Tirkkonen and Marina Kitaigorodski made field visits to Chennai and Vijayawada with Mobility India Director Albina Shankar.
Institute of Research and Development for the Rural Poor Trust, IRDRPT, in Chennai had gathered participants of Vocational Training in a hall to wait for Certificates.


Krushna Seva Samithi, Vijayawada had their Computer Hardware and Software Training Programme for Disabled Youngsters ongoing but the 3rd of December was dedicated for celebrating World Disability Day!
