Did you know, that Abilis is part of a consortium that has received EU funding from the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), from a programme called EU Aid Volunteers? The consortium is led by CBM Ireland (Christian Blind Mission) and the other members are: Tearfund Ireland, Viatores Christi Limited, Associazione Solidarieta Paesi emergenti (ASPEm), CBM Global, European Disability Forum (EDF).
The project takes two (2) years and the total sum of the project is 626 616, 73 Euros. Out of this Abilis’ part is 62 460 Euros of which 9 369 Euros is own contribution.
The aim of the project is to create a global community of practice made up of EU organisations working towards disability inclusion in humanitarian action and volunteering.
The project has 3 main objectives:
1. EU offices have increased capacity to manage and oversee inclusive humanitarian aid projects, including disaster risk reduction and post-disaster recovery.
2. Some consortium member EU offices become certified as sending organisations for deployment of EU Aid Volunteers and are running inclusive volunteering programmes.
3. Development of a community of practice building capacity in inclusion, humanitarian action and volunteering between members, and sharing this learning with the sector and the public.
